Our Movement in Action: Expanding Networks, Advocacy, and Civic Learning

Our Movement Is Growing, Be Part of It!

Over the past few years, we worked with a collective of 130 schools across Lebanon.

Now, we’re opening the door for new schools to join the movement. And you can help!

Do you know a principal or school that shares nafda’s spirit?

  • One bold enough to reimagine the future of education in Lebanon and help drive meaningful social transformation.

  • One that would thrive in a collaborative network of like-minded school leaders.

  • One that upholds our values of engaged citizenship, social justice and governance – both personally and within their schools.

From Vision to Action: Building Skills, Driving Change

nafda has launched its first nationwide advocacy effort, bringing together 30 principals in four thematic hubs. Each hub is leading a localized initiative grounded in research produced by AUB’s Department of Education, where graduate students analyzed pressing education challenges and developed policy briefs. The four themes currently being championed are:

  1. Improving school leadership capacity development programs

  2. Institutionalising school leadership participation in policymaking

  3. Strengthening school and community partnerships

  4. Developing a national value-based teacher training program

These hubs are not just discussion platforms—they are action-oriented spaces where principals translate policy ideas into concrete initiatives within their schools and communities.

To reinforce this work, nafda staff are also deepening their advocacy skills. Two team members were selected by the Asfari Foundation for advanced training under the Certificate in Influencing and Political Acumen (CIPA), a program designed to equip civil society leaders with the tools to influence policy and navigate complex political landscapes. Their expertise is directly strengthening the hubs, ensuring that principals’ collective efforts are strategically positioned to achieve national impact.

In the coming months, each hub will roll out its localized action plans, paving the way for a national policy forum in 2026. Stay tuned to see how these initiatives evolve!

7,519 Students and Counting—And Aal Seha Junior Is Here!

During this cycle of Aal Seha implementation, a total of 7,519 students were reached through 78 schools all over Lebanon82 teachers underscored the program’s transformative potential and they reported improvements in student collaboration, empathy, accountability, and civic agency – specifically:

  1. Pilot of Aal Seha Junior! Designed for Cycles 1 & 2, it introduces young students to values-based education in a fun, engaging way. The pilot was a success—so we’re now rolling it out nationwide. Soon, Lebanon’s youngest learners will begin their journey in civic learning and community engagement from the very start.

  2. Digitization of Aal Seha’s training component! Currently in process,  the goal of this is to make these tools more accessible to schools across the country in a practical, cost-effective, and sustainable way.

Click to hear directly from the students and teachers of Notre Dame de la Lumière School in Okaibe, Kesrouane, as they dive into Aal Seha and share what the experience meant to them!

We’re setting our sights on welcoming over 100 new schools into the network. With your support, this vision can become reality. Join our community of allies and help us grow the movement!
