Rashaya Public High School faced environmental challenges such as fires and pesticide overuse, threatening local resources. Partnering with the Society for Protection of Nature in Lebanon (SPNL), the school trained 75 students on nature protection and social skills. The students restored 8000 square meters of donated land, raised awareness about environmental issues, and created a sanctuary for bees by managing 12 beehives with guidance from a local honey expert. The school expanded the initiative by training 90 additional students to continue these efforts, empowering the next generation to tackle local environmental and social challenge
Key Outcomes:
- 90.5% of students reported an increase in social skills and motivation for community service.
- 50 kg of honey produced, with proceeds helping families and students with school fees, cost of books, transportation and medical expenses.
- 80% of students demonstrated a deeper understanding of the role of bees and agriculture for societal sustainability.
